The Belly of the Whale
Publication made from audiovisual excerpts taken from films, part of a wider artistic research project on certain resources used in science fiction film to represent otherness and the journey into the unknown, in relation to phenomena that affects the perception of reality, such as altered states of consciousness, out-of-body experiences and visits to virtual worlds.
This work is comprised of three elements: A digital music album that compiles various sound excerpts taken from films; a commented listening session of a selection of these excerpts, over which CGI animations are projected; and a printed fanzine containing edited visual material from both the films and the animations.
